Outside of Western New York, much of society seems to have bought into the notion that Buffalo is nothing more than a rundown city, a bit of a blemish within the state of New York. They’ll say that the people of Buffalo are depressed, the youth can’t wait to leave, and that as a city we have nothing to look forward to aside from our football and hockey teams. Anyone who has been within the city itself knows this simply not to be true.

The city of Buffalo has existed nearly as long as the country itself. Though the city didn’t officially incorporate until 1832, it expanded from a small trading community that developed in 1789. Calling the company ‘1789’ is a tribute to the people that believed in the area then, just as we believe in the area now.

The idea of Buffalo-themed apparel is nothing new to the area. ‘1789’ is just one of many organizations trying to appeal clothing products to the people of Buffalo and the surrounding area. What sets us apart from the average company is our vision. While a lot of these companies have apparel based on the hometown teams, ‘1789’ focuses on the city itself, with just some of the merchandise themed towards the sports organizations we have such pride in. This Buffalo-themed apparel mixed with present day style appeals to our community as a whole, not just fans as individuals.

Vinny Jacobbi and Vinny Spano brought this project together, just now beginning true expansion on a project they had only dreamed of just two years ago. Back then, the two talked about getting their names out into the public through the pride they had for their hometown. Jacobbi, a SUNY Brockport business student and Spano, a senior at Clarence High School had a vision and stuck to it from Day 1. The culmination of their efforts is just beginning to blossom in what you see here, pride, honor, and passion, for the city of Buffalo.
